There are a number of injectable treatments available on the market today. Injectable treatments are typically used to soften or eliminate the appearance of wrinkles and to enhance the size of the lips. There are many injectable products available on the market that can perform these functions, such as:
- BOTOX® Cosmetic | Botulinum Toxin
- Hyaluron syra
While most of these treatments achieve essentially the same function, the main difference is the method used and how long the treatment lasts. For instance, Restylane™ takes between 3 and 6 months while Radiesse™ takes between 3 and 6 years. This is a huge difference if you merely want to see what you would look like with bigger lips.
One of the most popular injectable treatments for reducing wrinkles is BOTOX® Cosmetic. BOTOX® Cosmetic is a toxin, which means
that it reduces wrinkles in the face by disabling the muscles in the face that crease the skin and cause wrinkles. BOTOX® Cosmetic, once injected, typically lasts around 3 to 6 months. Learn more about BOTOX® Cosmetic.

Collagen Replacement Therapy
Collagen can also reduce wrinkles. When injected, it replenishes the support layer of collagen that occurs naturally in the skin and lasts about 3 to 6 months. Collagen may also be used to increase the lips. A collagen injection into the lips creates more volume resulting in fuller lips. Currently, testing is required prior to collagen treatment so injections cannot be performed on the same day as a consultation. However, a new synthetic collagen injectable is being produced that will eliminate the need for testing prior to collagen treatment in the future.
A fat transfer, also known as autologous fat transfer or micro-lipoinjection, fills facial features with the patient’s own fat. Unlike collagen, patients cannot develop an allergic reaction to it because the fat is from the patients own body. The results typically last for a few months with one treatment but can be permanent with multiple treatments.
