Many women suffer from larger or asymmetrical labia minora (the folds of skin or “lips” surrounding the entrance to the vagina). Many women are born with this condition and it affects them throughout their lives. However, it can also emerge later on in life for others due to stretching during childbirth or aging. Women who have oversized or asymmetrical labia minora can feel uncomfortable when wearing certain clothes or during sexual intercourse, which can cause embarrassment with a sexual partner.

The labia reduction procedure is relatively pain free. Small incisions are made to take out any excess tissue, and to possibly even the edges of the labia minora. After surgery, sensation in the labia minora typically occurs and is occasionally enhanced. The outcome from a labioplasty is symmetrical, aesthetically pleasing labia minora.
